1. Granitas in Capri
There’s nothing better than getting off the funicular at the top of Capri, arriving in the piazetta and being greeted by a man named Giorgio who hand makes the most delicious drink you will ever taste in your life at his little granita stand. A granita is an alcoholic or non alcoholic cocktail that contains lemon slushy and blood orange juice Giorgio squeezes himself with a splash of vodka. Nothing really compares to being on top of this beautiful island looking at the amazing mountainous scenery with one in your hand.
The scenery of the beaches in Positano are incomparable to any other sea side village! The architecture of Positano makes it an absolute bucket list destination! A tiny gap in the cliffs of capri that is only big enough for a tiny row boat to pass through, is the gateway to one of the most unique views in the world. Inside of this 2 foot entrance is a cave that opens up into a vast pool illuminated bright blue! Naturally lighted, the little cave glows so brightly off of the rocky walls by the way the sunlight hits the water and reflects back into the grotto. It is an experience like no other! Once you are inside of this magnificent treasure, you can even tip your boat captain to take a dip into the neon waters!
Once a thriving and sophisticated Roman city, Pompeii was buried in meters of ash and pumice after the catastrophic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. Still remaining destroyed but untouched, you can take a guided tour around the town to be immersed in the way of life of those thousands of years before. Houses completely stoned still lie here and you can even see what looks like stone sculptures but is really those who didn't get the chance to run from the exploding lava.
