Most importantly, KNOW YOUR LIMITS! We’ve all had those nights where we’ve taken “one too many.” You don’t want to be completely destroyed before you even head out for the night, but it’s definitely nice to have a decent “buzz” going on when you walk out your front door. Here is my little guide on how I enjoy pre-gaming...
Step One: Go to the grocery store, and buy some CHEAP liquor. Personally, I think all Vodka tastes pretty bad. Wouldn’t you agree? Whether it is vodka, whiskey, rum, tequila, scotch, bourbon, red wine, white wine, champagne, or anything else you can think of. Buy a bottle, some mixers, and some ICE (I’ve never seen a fridge with an automatic ice maker in Europe).
Step Two: Invite some friends over, play some music, and enjoy a nice little get-together before you head out for the night. Obviously, keep in mind the time, and the volume, but enjoy the small gathering of friends.
Step Three: Always keep in mind how much you have drank. This is the PRE-game! No one likes a sloppy drunk.
Step Four: Head out to the bar/club. You won’t feel the need to spend as much money on alcohol, because you have a great start, and will be enjoying your drinks more slowly.
Other Advice: Flasks can be a valuable and usable purchase. You can buy a mixed drink, and then refill it a little later from alcohol from your flask. Also, if you feel your drink isn’t very strong, you have the power to change that. But keep in mind, hard liquor can take longer to affect your system. Oh, and never, I repeat NEVER, let anyone working at the establishment see you attempting this. Unless you like getting kicked out of bars by an angry European. Not that I know from experience, or anything.
